The
Computer Society of India (CSI) has partnered with the International
Computer Driving Licence Asia Pacific (ICDLAP) to launch certification
programmes for computer users in India. ICDLAP is a world famous
organisation that offers the International Computer Driving Licence
(ICDL), an internationally recognised qualification that enables
people to demonstrate their competency in computer skills.

CSI
will help ICDLAP to customise IT skill modules of ICDL for Indian
computer users to enhance their IT skills. CSI will also assist
in auditing ICDLs programmes at their various test centres
in India. Director of ICDL Asia Pacific, John Chapman said, Throughout
the world IT skills are becoming vital to people in all walks of
lifein communication, in business, in dealings with suppliers
and authorities, and with organising their personal lives. ICDLAP
is very excited to be in India, and we are delighted that CSI is
helping us to promote ICDL as the benchmark of computer user competency.
CSI
national president, A K Pathak, said, IT is becoming a profession
of choice in the global scenario. Professionals from all streams
are entering the IT industry. We welcome ICDLs skill certification
strategy and their entry in India. National executive director
of CSI, Deepak Shikarpur added, CSI will create a value proposition
to ICDL in auditing and quality improvement of the partner operations.
CSI will also suggest new areas to ICDL to add new certification
subjects.
The
qualification is being run by ICDLAP through its office in Mumbai
and has been introduced in the English language. However, various
versions in other languages will be introduced later for people
who wish to learn in their native language. There are already a
number of approved test centres in the country where candidates
can take the seven ICDL tests and work towards the ICDL qualification.
