The
Computer Society of India (CSI) has instituted the National IT Industry
Awards for the best applications of information technology in the
country. The awards are being sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services,
Infosys Technologies, Wipro Systems and QAI India, who have come
forward to build a corpus to put these awards on a permanent footing.
The
four categories are:
1)
CSI-TCS Award for Best IT Usage
2)
CSI-Wipro Award for Best Packaged Application
3)
CSI-Infosys Award for Best Shrink-Wrapped Software Product
4)
CSI-QAI Award for Process Excellence.
IT
solutions and projects will be judged on the criticality of IT usage,
improvement in customer service, impact on quality and productivity,
impact on society, and innovation, said Deepak Shikarpur,
the executive director of CSI.
The
Award for the Best IT Usage will be given to a user organisation
(government/non-government). The awards for the Best Packaged Application
and the Best Shrink-Wrapped Software Product will be given to a
software organisation, which has developed the product. The Award
for the Best Business Value through software process excellence
is for a software organisation which has demonstrated business value
through excellence in software process improvement.
The
last date for applications is February 25, 2003. The selection committee
will consist of CSI members, government/industry representatives,
academicians, researchers and management consultants.
