Cap Gemini Ernst and Young announced the appointment of Baru S Rao as vice president of delivery and operations at its Mumbai Centre. Rao brings with him 20 years of strong experience in the IT/offshore industry, most recently as chief operating officer for Syntel Asia Pacific, and prior to that with TCS. At Syntel, Baru was responsible for leading a team of over 2,000 staff across multiple delivery centres in India and across the world. At TCS, Baru worked in management and on project roles in Europe, USA, Middle East, Asia, and India. Commenting on the appointment, Salil Parekh, COO of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Asia Pacific said, “Our goal is to hire the best and brightest professionals to provide quality services to our customers. Baru Rao brings tremendous experience and value to Cap Gemini Ernst & Young India and we are happy to have him on board.” Rao has a Bachelor of Technology from Regional Engineering College, Warangal and a Masters in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur.


Telelogic has promoted Sidharth Malik to the position of managing director of the company’s operation in India. In his new role, Malik will report directly to Olle Eriksson, senior vice president operations for Telelogic Southern Asia/Pacific. As managing director market operation India, Malik will be responsible for driving Telelogic’s aggressive growth strategy in the country, as well as enhancing and reinforcing its reputation in the region. Malik, who has been acting head of the Indian operation for the past six months, joined Telelogic in April 2001, as country sales manager for India. With his rich experience in the area of software engineering tools and knowledge of customer needs in software development, his responsibility was to set up the Indian sales and marketing organisation and achieve the country’s sales and profitability targets. “Over the past 18 months, Sidharth Malik has helped develop a world-class sales and services organisation specifically designed to customer needs in India,” said Scott Raskin, president of Telelogic Americas and Asia/Pacific. Malik has close to ten years experience in technology sales and marketing at various companies like Rational Software, Tata Elxsi and Global Information Systems. Prior to joining Telelogic, he was in charge of the northern region of India for Rational where he helped set up the company’s sales office in Delhi. Previously, Malik worked with Tata Elxsi as an associate manager and was responsible for growing the business in the enterprise segment, which included finance, banking, PSU and manufacturing verticals. At Global Information Systems, he was responsible for the product management function and was instrumental in launching two successful products in the Indian market. Sidharth Malik has a Masters in Business Administration (Marketing) and a BE in Computer Science and Engineering.
