The Inter City Round of the First All India
IT Cricket ChampionshipDelhi Region, was played recently at
Shahid Bhagat Singh College Ground, in the capital city. Sponsored
by Express Computer and managed by Weekend Sports, the championship
is the first national event of its kind to bring out the cricketing
talent among IT professionals in the country.
NIIT won the Delhi league of the championship
by defeating E-Funds in the finals by 16 runs. Captained by Gagan
Adlakha, the NIIT team, fondly called Ninjas, showed excellent cricketing
skills during the whole tournament.
Batting first the NIIT team scored 108
runs in reply to which the E-funds team could score 92 runs. HCL
Technologies and Canon India were the other two semi-finalists.
Raj Kumar from NIIT won the best player
of the championship while Amit Kapoor and Ajay Bhandari from E-Funds
won the best bowler and best batsman award respectively.
The championship is being conducted at
an all-India level and is being played in two stages. The first
stage is the Regional Rounds which is covering the major IT cities
of India, namely Mumbai, Bang-alore, Delhi and Hyderabad. The winners
of these regional rounds will play for the All- India Trophy.
NIIT now joins ACES ABN Amro, the Inter-Mumbai
winner, to play the All-India finals to be held later this year.
The other regional rounds will be played

The All-India finals will be played in Mumbai
