Alcatel announced the appointment of Ravi Sharma as the vice president for the Indian subcontinent. This will be in addition to Sharma’s current responsibilities as managing director and country senior officer for Alcatel in India and Nepal. With this appointment, Sharma has been given full charge of Alcatel’s operations in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.

Sharma joined Alcatel in January 2003. Before taking over as managing director and CSO, Alcatel India in 2003, Sharma was regional director—Asia of London based satellite operator Europe* Star (a joint venture of Alcatel). Sharma brings with him rich experience from companies like British Telecom, UB Group and Europe*Star.


Subex Systems, the leading telecom software product company operating in the revenue maximization space, announced the appointment of V R Suresh Rao as general manager of accounts and finance. He would be based in Bangalore. Suresh joins Subex from BPL Telecom where he spent over five years. Suresh would be responsible for the financial side of the ambitious growth that Subex is charting. He holds an ACA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & ICWA (Inter) from the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.


Dr Prof M N V Nair, a renowned management consultant, has been appointed the new chairman of Toonz Animation India, a leading animation studio. Prof Nair will succeed the late G A Menon as chairman. Prof Nair was formerly professor and dean of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has also been the honorary dean of the Kerala University. He is presently the chairman of Public Affairs Forum, Trivandrum.

As the chairman of Toonz, Prof Nair will spearhead the company to its goal of becoming a leading player in the global animation arena. Prof Nair brings to Toonz a wealth of experience in the field of management and will give new impetus to the company’s growth.
